Bafflegab Productions is an audio production company creating award-winning fiction and documentary podcasts, radio and audio.
Our most recent productions are Uncanny, The Witch Farm, The Battersea Poltergeist, Children of the Stones and Inside… Ghosts for BBC Sounds; A Matter of Life and Death, You Must Listen, Hunting Ghosts with Gatiss and Coles, Lemn Sissay’s Poetry Rebels and an adaptation of Howl’s Moving Castle for BBC Radio 4; Username: Resurgent, The Sound at the End and Car Crash for Audible and Truthdiggers for Fun Kids.
In 2022 The Battersea Poltergeist picked up Silver for Creative Innovation, and Uncanny won Bronze for Best New Show at the ARIAS. In 2021 we won Gold for Best Serialized Podcast at the New York Festivals Radio Awards for The Battersea Poltergeist, and in 2020 also won Gold for Best Drama Special at the New York Festivals Radio Awards for our updating of M.R. James’ The Ash Tree, and Silver for Best Drama at the ARIA Awards for another James adaptation, A View from a Hill.
For Audible Originals, we have produced HP Lovecraft series Arkham County for Audible, starring Stanley Tucci, full-cast adaptations of Peter Pan (Audible’s Christmas gift to members, starring Rupert Everett) and The Wizard of Oz (starring Jim Broadbent); modern-day M.R. James ghost story adaptations The Conception of Terror (Gold New York Festivals Radio Award 2019 for Best Drama Special) and an adaptation of the ’70s horror film Blood on Satan’s Claw (shortlisted for BBC Audio Drama Awards 2019, winner of the Gold New York Festivals Radio Award 2018 for Best Drama Special).
We’ve also produced The Space Programme, a weekly drama serial for kids, for Fun Kids Radio; horror anthology Hammer Chillers; an adaptation of Clive Barker’s novella The Hellbound Heart, starring Alice Lowe, Tom Meeten and Neve McIntosh; Baker’s End, a comedy drama series starring Tom Baker (finalist in the BBC Audio Drama Awards 2017, winner of the Gold New York Festivals Radio Award 2017 for Best Audiobook); tales of supernatural derring-do The Scarifyers (as heard on BBC Radio 4 Extra); and The Brenda and Effie Mysteries (winner of the Gold New York Festivals Radio Award 2015 for Best Audiobook).
